Presumed dead after his famous duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Maul survived and was later found by his brother Savage Opress. Restored with cybernetic legs through Talzin’s magic, he returned as a dangerous crime lord and founded the Shadow Collective, forming alliances with powerful criminal groups such as the Hutts and the Pyke Syndicate.
