This attractive Bruce J. Hawker “The Kingdom of the Underworld” ex-libris is an original collectible featuring artwork by renowned Belgian comic artist William Vance (William van Cutsem). Published by Librairie Durango in 1996, the print measures 21 x 15 cm and was produced using the traditional offset printing technique.

The offered example is signed by William Vance and preserved in mint condition. It is not individually numbered, and the exact number of copies produced is currently undocumented, making the original print run difficult to establish.

The illustration is connected to Le Royaume des enfers, the seventh Bruce J. Hawker album, published in 1996. In this adventure, the courageous Royal Navy officer ventures into the sinister “Kingdom of the Underworld” to rescue his father, who is being held hostage by the mysterious Bourreaux de la nuit. The album was written by André-Paul Duchâteau and William Vance, with artwork by Vance.

Bruce J. Hawker is a historical adventure series centred on a young British naval officer, combining naval warfare, espionage, betrayal and adventure. Vance’s detailed ships, period settings and highly realistic characters give the series its distinctive atmosphere.
