This collectible XIII ex-libris by William Vance is an attractive piece of Franco-Belgian comic art, published by Les Petits Sapristains in 2005. Measuring 15 x 21 cm, the illustration was produced using offset printing and issued in a strictly limited edition of only 250 copies.

Each example was individually numbered on the reverse and signed by William Vance, making this edition considerably more collectible than a standard commercial print. The example offered here is preserved in mint condition.

XIII is the celebrated espionage and political-thriller series created by writer Jean Van Hamme and illustrator William Vance. The story centres on an amnesiac man whose only initial clue to his identity is the Roman numeral XIII tattooed on his body. His search for his past gradually develops into an intricate story of political conspiracies, assassinations and hidden identities. Vance began illustrating the series in the 1980s, and XIII became one of the major successes of European comics.

Vance was particularly admired for his precise realistic drawing, convincing environments and cinematic action sequences. His distinctive visual style became inseparable from the identity of XIII.

With its limited print run, authentic Vance signature and excellent condition, this is a desirable addition to any XIII or European comic-art collection.
